This client has an old, but large, unused metal framed outbuilding at their property which they wanted to convert and renovate to create an indoor heated swimming pool and associated facilities.
The basics of the building were already there but the clients wanted a timber building- not metal as it was- to house their new pool. The existing building was removed and replaced with a timber clad building roofed with Cedar shingle tiles, with UPVC doors and windows and Velux® windows to the roof to flood the building with natural light.
The solid concrete floor of the original building was excavated to allow room for the new heated pool. All of the necessary ducting, pumps and units were installed to allow a fully heated swimming pool as well as plumbing and electrical system installed to allow a fully functioning, self sufficient outdoor building.
Once the pool was installed the pool flooring was laid using specialised rubber flooring. The inside of the pool house was insulated and timber clad, having been partitioned to create the pool area, pump room, shower room, changing room and WC.
A suitable lighting plan was installed with specially selected light fixtures to enhance size and space within the building.
A shower was installed along with a boiler to provide hot running water, and along with the WC were given a tiled finish. The flooring of the changing room and shower room were laid with a special water-resistant carpet.
To finish the pool house, the outside of the building was paved to create a sitting and dining area adjacent to the pool.
